Peter Koury is a young artist and woodwind educator currently based in Cincinnati, OH.
He is an active educator at Madison Central High School as well as Beechwood High
School, Clark Moores Middle School, Bourbon County High School, and Paul Laurence
Dunbar High School. He maintains an active private studio of both saxophonists and
clarinetists throughout the Central and Northern Kentucky area who have gone on to
receive accolades such as top placements in the KMEA All State Symphonic and Concert
Bands, The Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts, the Interlochen Arts Camp,
and Bluegrass All Regional Band. He is also the resident saxophone instructor at the
Madison Central High School where he founded and leads the school’s saxophone
quartets and saxophone ensemble, who have most recently been invited to perform at
the KMEA state conference in February 2024.
Peter is an active performer, taking part in workshops and masterclasses for the critically
acclaimed Timothy McAllister, Taimur Sullivan, Doug O’ Connor, Diane Hunger, and more.
Peter seeks to perform all styles of music, ranging from contemporary compositions and
premieres to transcriptions of Romantic and Baroque era music. Involved with the
Cincinnati New Music Ensemble, a burgeoning new music ensemble, Peter actively
works with composers from the greater Cincinnati area and frequently commissions new
works with the intent to disseminate fresh, engaging repertoire.
Peter is also an active ensemble musician. He has performed with the World Youth Wind
Symphony, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, the CCM Philharmonia, the CCM
Wind Symphony, the Cincinnati New Music Ensemble, and the CCM Saxophone
Ensemble. Peter is also an active performer of new music, commissioning multiple
composers and premiering a number of works from composers Serin Oh, Saman Shahi,
James Loughery, Owen Hopper, and more as a soloist and member of the actively
performing Cincinnati New Music Ensemble. This included most recently premiering
Owen Hopper’s How to be Dishonest, as well as performing the works of Louis
Andriessen, Gregory Wanamaker, Stacey Bowers, Eden Lonsdale, Isaac Creager, and
more.
