Born in Seoul 1988, Sunkyong Park started to play the piano at the age of 7 and made her solo debut at age of 13. From an early age, she received First Prizes at a number of piano competitions in Korea. After training with Yoo-kyung Han and Mari Kwon, Ms Park granted admission to the Yonsei University for her outstanding academic performance, where she studied with Prof. kyung-sook Lee and received her bachelor of music degree in piano performance in 2012. She moved to the United States to pursue a master of music degree in piano performance at Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, where she studied with Prof. Ms. Hahn.
She played recitals and chamber concerts at festivals including the Wiener Musickseminar, Eumyoun Summer Music Festival, TSIPF and The Music Festival of Australian Institutue of Music. She also has performed at Mozart hall, Kumho art hall, Youngsan grace hall, Griswold hall, Cohen-Davision Theatre, Goodwin hall, Jessen Hall, Bates recital Hall, Performing Arts Center at Texas and McCollough Theatre. Ms. Park has won many prizes from multiple famous competitions such as Yega young Gifted competition, Haneum Young Gifted competition, Wiener Musicseminar competition, Nanpa Music competition, Music Journal competition, Eumyoun and SAC Music competition. Besides, she takes master classes with Anton Nel, Boris Slutsky, Alexander Kobrin, Marina Lomazov, Elizabeth Pridonoff, Tokyo Quartet, Miro Quartet and Daniel Pollack. She is also very interested in chamber music, so she formed The Selah Trio. During public outreach programs and collaboration over the past year, she has received much recognition and praise for their artistry.
She obtained a Doctoral degree at the University of Texas at Austin where she studied with Prof. Gregory Allen in May, 2018.
