My name is Yunhee Ko. I was born in South Korea.My professional academic career started when I studied Sunhwa Art middle school and highschool which is a prestigious music school in Korea. I’ve selected a gifted education centeroperated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government when I was 13 years old. I graduated as thetop of the class, and I received the Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office Award. Iwon a prize at the Seoul Music Concourse 2003. I won first prize at the Korea Music Association2006. I studied at Yonsei University BM Piano Performance, and MM Piano Performance. Ireceived a merit scholarships, and I also won Yonsei University’s concerto competition.I performed Chopin Concerto No. 1 with the Yonsei University Orchestra At the Centennial Hallof Yonsei University 2008. I earned a diploma at the Asian Chopin Competition 2011. I receiveda BK scholarship in Korea 2017. After I graduated MM from Yonsei University 2018, andI played a Chopin piano concerto with the Polish Warsaw Quartet.One of my great achievements in my early career, played the piano at Japan Showa University2011, I was also invited for performances at Beijing Central Conservatory 2012. Also, Iparticipated in the Austria ALLEGRO VIVO Music Festival twice in 2016, 2017 and played onAustrian Broadcasting Corporation. My performance was praised as “a pianist with naturalmusicality”. Travelling to another country for my career made me stronger and gave meconfidence in my work.
I’m so proud that I played in master classes for many well-known pianists/professors such as:Christopher Hinterhuber (University of Music and Arts in Vienna), Fabio Bidini(Colburn School), Pavlina Dokovska (Mannes College of Music), John Perry (USC),Haesun Paik (NEC), Phillip Kawin (MSM), Piotr Paleczny (Warsaw Chopin Competition) andEduardus Halim (New York University).
I am currently studying with Professor and Pianist Boaz Sharon in the Master Degree program at Boston University School of Music.
It was a great honor to play solo as a winner at Carnegie Hall in New York in September. Also, as a winner at BUCarnegie Hall competition, I have been blessed to have another chance to play a piece atCarnegie Hall 2022 in March, 2022.
