Yi-Hsuan Tseng Piano

Born in 1994 in Tainan City, Yi-Hsuan Tseng started the piano at the age of four.
Graduated from the Tainan Minicipal Yonfu Elementary School with the best grades
in all subjects and music classes, and at the same time was admitted to the Tainan
Municipal Dacheng Junior High School with high scores. And again, graduated with
the best grades from Junior high in all subjects and music classes, and was admitted
with first place in scores for majoring in piano to the Tainan First Girls Senior High
School.
At age nine, she won first place in the piano category of the Cultural Cup Taiwan
Music Competition, which was also the first time she ever won first prize in a
competition. At age thirteen, she was relegated to represent the Tainan Municipal
Dacheng Junior High School for an exchange program with the Musashino University
in Japan, in the combination of piano and two flutists.
She started the bassoon on at age eight as a minor study. In her fourth year she won
first place in the bassoon category of the Cultural Cup Taiwan Music Competition.
She maintained the position of principal bassoonist throughout elementary school,
junior high and senior high school. During senior high school, she also received first
prize in wind quintet in the National Student Competition of Music, and first prize in
solo bassoon in the Kaohsiung Wei Wu Ying National Music Competition. She also
came in first during the university entrance exams for minoring in bassoon.
During university she started the pipe organ as her second minor instrument, and
while studying at the Taipei National University of the Arts, she also received the
highest grade with her minor in pipe organ.

During her studies she won numerous scholarships and competitions. In 2017, she
graduated with the highest achievement in the Bachelor Piano Performance from the
Taipei National University of the Arts, where at the same time she obtained the
highest piano performance diploma. In 2020, she has received both a masters degree
and certificate of Pedagogic Qualification from the Taipei National University of the
Arts. In 2021, she obtained also her masters degree piano performance from the
University Mozarteum Salzburg. At the moment she is studying with the chair of the
piano department at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, Prof. Andreas Groethuysen.
She is working on her postgraduate degree in piano performance, and will graduate
in July of 2023.
During Yihsuan’s time in Austria, aside from performing frequently in university solo
concerts, recitals and chamber music concerts, she also actively performed in music
festivals with very high appraisals. In August of 2017 an article was published about
her in the German Worms Allegemeine Zeitung; in August of 2021 she was invited to
publish her own book “Robert Schumann Carnaval Op.9” with the German publishing
company “Lehrbuchverlag”.


During her studies she also won piano competitions, for example the first place in the
Seidof & Sons International Piano Competition; the Platinum Prize in the Quebec
International Music Competition; the Gold Prize in the European Elite Piano
Competition, at the same time she has received Country Representative Winner and
Artist of the month Winner, awarded by European by Classical Music Awards Global
Committee; the Gold Prize in the London Young Musician Competition, at the same
time she has received the Gold Prize for Etude Performance, Baroque Period Music
Performance, Classical Period Music Performance, Romantic Period Music
Performance; the Gold Prize in the World Grand Prix International Music Contest, at
the same time she has obtained also the Gold Prize for Sonata Performance and
Modern Stile Performance; the Gold Prize in the 2022 Grand Master Music
Competiton, at the same time she has received special Prize for being the best
performer; the Gold Prize in the World Classical Music Awards, at the same time she
has obtained the Gold Prize for Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern
Performance; the First Prize in the International Piano Competition Mozart; the First
Prize in the IMKA Music Competition; the First Prize in the Vivaldi International Music
Competition; the Gold Prize in the North American Virtuoso International Music
Competition…ect.
