Jonghwan Kim was born in Ulsan city of Korea in 1993. He
began his music education at Busan Middle and High
School of Arts with Sung-Hwan Lee and Beom-Hoon Lee,
and earned his Bachelor’s degree at Seoul National
University in Korea with Hyang-Im Kim and Tae-Young Kim.
He proceeded with his studies at Conservatory of music in
Aubervilliers in France with Julien Petit. As a soloist,
Jonghwan Kim has earned awards in numerous woodwind
competitions in Korea, and has performed with Ulsan
National Symphony Orchestra as a winner of young rising
star audition and a solo recital as a winner of young artist
audition by Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation. He also has
had a number of solo and ensemble performances in Busan
and Seoul cities in Korea, Poitiers, Vincennes, Aubervilliers,
Clamart and Gap cities in France, Bad Homburg in
Germany, Bangkok in Thailand, and Hartford in USA. In
addition, he pursued advanced studies as attending
international master classes, studying with esteemed
saxophonists Claude Delangle and Arno Bornkamp. He is
currently studying with Dr. Otis Murphy, as a first pupil in
Korea, at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music for
Master’s degree.
