Sharon Niessen
Sharon Niessen (Eindhoven, 1986) started with piano lessons on the age of 9 years
old. Already soon she appeared to be a talented pianist and therefore she got
admitted to the Young Talent Class of the Fontys Conservatory Tilburg (NL). After
high school she continued her studies with Ton Demmers, Jan Wijn and Joop Celis. In
2016 Sharon graduated cum laude from the Master of Music.
Sharon won various prizes on international competitions. The Petrof Competition,
Prinses Christina Competition and YPF Piano Competition are some of them. She
gave many recitals all over the world in leading concert halls like Muziekgebouw
Eindhoven (NL), TivoliVredenburg Utrecht (NL) and Oosterpoort in Groningen (NL).
Sharon also gave a concert in Carnegie Hall in New York (US).
She played with orchestras like the Helikon Orchestra, Philips Symphony Orchestra,
Dutch Promenade Orchestra and worked together with conductors such as Kian Pin
Hiu, Jules van Hessen and Jurre Haanstra. Together with the YouthOrchestra of the
Netherlands she toured with the 1 st Piano Concerto of Franz Liszt in the Netherlands.
The concert she gave during the 100 th Birthday of Frits Philips in Muziekgebouw
Eindhoven (NL) was another highlight in her musical career.
During her final Master recital Sharon played the 2 nd Piano Concerto of Camille Saint-
Saëns together with a specially organized orchestra under direction of Sander
Teepen.
Besides giving concerts as a solo pianist, Sharon also plays in chamber music
ensembles. Since 2018 she plays in the Maggiore Piano Trio with violinist Anna
Britalla and cellist Camillo Cabassi.
