Yue Lin, born in China in 1990, is a talented young flutist. She started playing the flute at the
age of 7. In 2009, she passed the entrance examination of China Conservatory with the highest
score. After four years of studying in China, she decided to go deeper and further in her
musical education. In 2014, she passed the entrance examination of Zurich University of the
Arts (ZHdK) and started her new journey in music with Professor Matthias Ziegler. Two years
later, she graduated with 5.75 on 6 from ZHdK with a master’s diploma in music performance.
In 2018, she graduated with a specialized master’s degree (soloist) from ZHdK.
During those years of studying, she has played lots of projects with chamber music orchestras
and symphony orchestras. At the same time, she has won a lot of prizes as well, such as the
winning Prize in Beijing International Young Wooden Pipe Contest (2009), the first prize in the
Asian Flute Association’s 3rd Tokyo International Contest China Contesting Territory (2011), the
second prize in Italy Chieri International Competition (2014), the third prize in the 13th Padova
International Music Competition (2015), and the first prize in 15th Luigi Zanuccoli International
Young Musician Competition (2017).
In 2018, she was invited to play with Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra as a soloist and the
concert was a great success. Except for being invited to play as a soloist, she also has rich
experience in playing with chamber music groups. She was invited to play a series of concerts
with a trio group in Solothurn, Sent and Küssnacht am Rigi in Switzerland from 2016 to 2017. In
addition, she participated in different kinds of workshops to play famous classical music for the
audience of different ages. She also had a cooperation with Crans Montana Aminona to play
for their events “Lever du soleil en musique à Cry d’Er à 2200m” in 2017.
Yue Lin’s performance is unique in a way that can connect the audience from all ages to the
world of pure music at any time. She enjoys share classical music with different people from all
over the world.
