Hyun Jeong Kang

Hyun Jeong Kang, a native of South Korea, maintains an active profile across the
United States and abroad as a solo recitalist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist.

She recently performed her solo recital, which was selected to Arts Council Korea’s
support for the concert project. She also was invited to the Musical Arts Association in Korea
to have solo performances in solo concert series and WPTA USA Missouri online concert. She
will have a duo piano recital this November under Artist– Human Resources Support Project
in the Performing Arts Field running by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Art Council
Korea. She is scheduled to have another duo piano recital in Sejong Chamber Hall in Sejong
Center for Performing Art and Korean Composers concert series in IBK Chamber Hall in Seoul
Art Center on next February 2022.

Kang embraces a wide range of repertoire and styles, including 21st century Korean
composers’ music. She gave two of lecture recitals and wrote her doctoral thesis about “Shinuh
Lee’s Chorale Fantasies and Uzong Choe’s Piano Preludes. She also performed Choe’s selected
piano preludes in Housewright Resident Recital featuring compositions by Housewright
Scholar Uzong Choe and FSU College of Music Faculty Clifton and Callender and Liliya Ugay.
She has placed in various competitions including American Classical Young Musician Award,
New York Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, Seattle International
Piano Competition, Yea-jin Music Competition, the Korea Baptist Theological University
Music Competition, International Youth Music Competition, and Korea National Youth Music
Competition.

She has actively invited and performed in numerous international music festivals,
including the San Juan International Piano Festival supported by Steinway Society of Puerto
Rico, Illinois Summer Piano Institute, Seoul International Music Camp Festival, and Eumyoun
International Music Festival. After participating in the San Juan International Piano Festival,
she served as Assistant Director in that festival the following year. She is currently serving as
an Instructor for Sunhwa Art School, Sunhwa Art high school.

Kang received a Doctoral degree in piano performance from Florida State University
under the tutelage of Ian Hobson and a master’s degree from the University of Michigan under

the tutelage of Logan Skelton. While pursuing her graduate studies, she received a full-tuition
scholarship as a research assistant, a Mildred Tuttle scholarship, and a merit-based scholarship.
She holds a bachelor’s degree at Ewha Womans University under the tutelage of Myoung-sun
Kye, receiving the academic scholarship and Dr. Young Re Cha Scholarship. Her additional
studies and masterclasses of Jon Kimura Parker, Boaz Sharon, Edward Auer, Bruce Brubaker,
and Vadim Suchanov, among many others.
