Jan Olesz was born in 1999 and, as a child, was already winning awards at national
competitions in Poland. He received his initial musical education at the Feliks Nowowiejski
Primary and Secondary School of Music in Gdańsk under the direction of Elena Aleksiejuk
and graduated with distinction. After he commenced studies at the Academy of Music in
Kraków in the master class of Andrzej Pikul. He also represented the University during an
Erasmus exchange at Lubeck (Germany).
He has been awarded at many international piano competitions: Second Prize in the 1st
International Instrumental Online Performance Competition, Second Prize in the 10th Young
Musician International “Città di Massa”, Third Prize in the V ODIN International Music
Competition, Third Prize in the 2nd International Jan Hoffman Piano Competition in Kraków,
First Prize in the 27th Young Musician International Competition „Citta di Barletta”.
In 2018 he was Second Prize Laureate at the the 7th International Maurycy Moszkowski
Piano Competition “Per aspera ad astra” in Kielce. After this competition he has performed
with an orchestra in Filharmonia Świętokrzyska and at the Music Academy in Gdańsk.
He received a distinction at the “Bieszczady bez granic” festival in Sanok. Also he has
performed at many festivals in Poland: Gdańscy Pianiści Miastu or Duettissimo in Kraków.
Jan Olesz has performed recitals in countries such as Germany, Italy, Spain or Portugal.
He also participated in many other master courses taught by eminent pianists. The pianist
develops his skills at numerous solo master classes with professors such as Michel Beroff,
Ilya Maximov, Zbigniew Raubo, Bronisława Kawalla, Janusz Olejniczak, Waldemar
Andrzejewski, Wojciech, Świtała, Vadim Rudenko, Aquileses Delle Vigne.
He was awarded with scholarships from the Minister of National Education, as well as from
the President of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz.
