Szymon Ogryzek (born 25.05.1996 in Mikołów) is a Polish pianist, a student of prof. Avedis Kouyoumdjian at the Universität fur Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien in Vienna (Austria) and of prof. Katarzyna Jankowska-Borzykowska at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (Poland). He is a member of Cuore Piano Trio and Budzyńska-Ogryzek Duo. Together they have won several international music competitions i.a.: the Quebec International Music Competition in Canada (1st prize in 2020), Moscow International Music Competition in Russia (1st prize in 2020), IMKA International Music Competition in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1st prize in 2019) or BTDA International Music Competition in Singapore (1st prize in 2019). In January 2020 he was awarded the 1st prize at the International Music Competition for “Concert Tours to China” in Denmark. The prize is a concert tour in China together with Cuore Piano Trio, which will take place in 2022.
Szymon gives concerts regularly and he specializes in Polish music performance. He performed in many of the most prestigious concert halls in Poland, as well as in Austria, France, Russia, Germany or Italy. In 2021 his Cuore Piano Trio was chosen to join the Le Dimore del Quartetto network, while in 2020 they were invited to join the artists represented by the Polish Music Agency. In 2019 their project won the Stage for the Polish Music program organized by the Institute of Music and Dance (one of the leading cultural institutions in Poland) which allowed them to perform three debut recitals in the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, the Kielce and the Olsztyn Philharmonic Halls. In 2018 they performed several times in some of the most famous Russian museums within the Youth Academy of the Arts Russian-Polish Festival in Moscow. The performed opening recitals of many prestigious international and nationwide festivals in Poland.
In 2017 Szymon was granted the Societe Generale Bank scholarship which allowed him to record his debut CD with Zuzanna Budzyńska (violin). In 2018 they recorded “POLONAISES” (their 2nd CD), which was released by the DUX Recording Producers. For this CD the duo was awarded the prestigious 2019 CORYPHAEUS OF THE POLISH
MUSIC prize in the Discovery of the Year category. Together with Cuore Piano Trio Szymon recorded several other pieces for DUX, which can be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal etc. Their recordings have gained wonderful reviews by renowned magazines such as PIZZICATO, ResMusica or Music-Web International.
Szymon Ogryzek is a scholarship holder of i.a. the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Rector of the FCUM’s scholarship for the best students. Moreover, in 2020 he was awarded the STUDENTS’ NOBEL PRIZE for the best student in Poland in the Arts category. He took part in many international music seminars and courses, where he worked with renowned piano and chamber music professors such as Dmitry Bashkirov, Fabio Bidini, Tobias Koch, Frank-Immo Zichner or Ligija Triakina. In 2018 he studied in Vienna in the concert class of piano of prof. Jan Jiracek von Arnim thanks to the scholarship of the Erasmus+ Program.
