ALEXANDER TCHOBANOV Piano

I was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and started playing piano at the age of 6. I also trained football for 2 years  in my teens. I left Bulgaria to pursue music studies in the US at the age of 16. While in America, I won a First Prize at the “Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition” in New York and was a laureate of the Los Angeles Music Center “Spotlight Awards”. In 2012, I made my Austrian Debut as a soloist of  the Vienna Residence Orchestra at “Palais Auersperg”.

I was featured on WGBH, WXEL, NPR, and recorded for Bulgarian National TV and Radio. I have  appeared at such venues as New York’s “Steinway Hall” and “Paul Hall”, “Dorothy Chandler Pavilion”(Los Angeles), “Jordan Hall” (Boston),”Schloss Halbturn Palace”(Vienna), “Balabanov House” (Bulgaria), and “Madinat Theatre”(Dubai). I completed my Masters Degree at Rutgers University,  under the guidance of Susan Starr. I also attended the Music Academy of the West where I trained with Jerome Lowenthal. I am currently a Head of Keyboard Studies at the British School Al Khubairat in Abu Dhabi. I am married and have an eighth month old baby boy named Adrian
