
Wai-Lok Jimmy Tung has performed orchestra concerts, recitals and chamber music in Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, China and New York. Mr. Tung started learning trumpet during secondary school under the tutelage of Mr. King-Chun Ng and got his ATCL music diploma from Trinity College of London in 2010.
Mr. Tung graduated from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Art under the guidance of Mr. Ka-Hing Fung in 2015. After that, Tung received the scholarship of Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme, studied at Mannes College – The New School in New York and finished his master’s degree in music with dean’s award under the guidance of Mr. Vincent Penzarella.
Mr. Tung has performed as a freelance player with local professional orchestras such as Hong Kong Philharmonic, Hone Kong Sinfonietta, and City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. Tung also performed with the orchestras and wind bands in New York, including Queensboro Symphony Orchestra, New York Wind Orchestra, Mannes Orchestra and Queens College Chamber Orchestra. Tung currently is one of the core-members in a local brass quintet group – Mr. Brass and perform in different occasions around Hong Kong.
Mr. Tung participated many music festivals and competitions around the world, such as Jeju International Band Festival, Asian Youth Orchestra and Hong Kong Trumpet Gala. In 2011, Tung was recommended by the Hong Kong Music Office to represent Hong Kong, attended the 32nd Kirishima Festival in Japan and studied with Mr. Osamu Takahashi.
Mr. Tung worked in Music Office as Assistant Music Officer, taught trumpet classes and conducted the Music Office Youth Brass Band for two years. Currently, Tung teaches in several schools and private trumpet lessons.
Mr. Tung is the Performance & Development Artist of LEUNG trumpet – a Hong Kong local trumpet brand.
