Sangwon Moon, a native of South Korea, graduated from Konkuk University with the degree of
Bachelor of Music Education, from Judson University with the Performance Certificate, and from
Northern Illinois University with the degree of Master. He is currently a DMA candidate and graduate
teaching assistant at University of Georgia with Dr. David Fung.
Sangwon Moon has placed in various competitions such as The Piano Society of Korea Competition
(1st Prize), Pf. Dichler International Music Competition in Vienna (2nd Prize), Korea-Asia Piano Open
Competition in Seoul (1st Prize in Beethoven Sonata Class, 2nd Prize in Liszt Free Choice Class),
and IMKA Internet Music Competition (1st Prize).
He performed in numerous concert such as The Piano Society of Korea Debut Concert, Opening and
Winner Concert of Wiener Musik Seminar, Konkuk University Orchestra Concert, NIU Philharmonic
Concert, and the 8th Scholarship Benefit Concert for Young Artists, “Romance for Strings,” in Illinois.
He was also awarded several scholarships. In addition to full tuition scholarships from Judson
university, Northern Illinois University, and University of Georgia, He received the scholarships from
No-yeob Culture Foundations in Korea for 3 years, Pf. Paik Scholarship of excellence from Konkuk
University, and William M. and Ruth H. Koehler Piano Scholarships from Northern Illinois University.
He has participated in several Master Classes with Oliver Kern, Frederic Moyer and Dr. Sylvia Wang.
